Tampa Bay Real Estate Agents Help Customers Find Homes

When you are in the market for Tampa homes for sale, the first step is to seek out experienced, qualified real estate agent who is familiar with the area and is dedicated to finding you the ideal home. No matter whether you have been looking for a while or if you have only begun your search for a new home, there are professional Realtors who are well prepared to assist you in your efforts.

Matching up the right people with the right homes is what professional real estate agents do ? and the best make it look easy. It can be easy for you as a home buyer, at least if you choose the right real estate agent to work with.

Most prospective home buyers start their search by looking through the listings in their local classifieds as well as online for listings in their city. When they find a property or properties that they would like to see, then they call real estate agents to arrange a showing and to get further information about the homes they are interested in.

Generally, home buyers will also tell the agent what kind of homes they are looking for at this point, with the agent then beginning to search on their behalf as well. When a professional Realtor is working with you, finding a new home does not have to be a challenge.

While there are those who think that working with many different Realtors at the same time is the way to go when you are looking to buy a home, the fact is that this is actually not always the best method. Working with just one Realtor or real estate agent who is able to devote their time and effort to finding you a home and that knows what you want in your new home can be more effective in many cases.

When you work with just one real estate agent, you will often have a better outcome in your search, since it will be far easier to establish a rapport with that agent. Naturally, the agent will be able to show you a variety of properties which match your criteria, since they will know exactly what you are looking for.

Some may say that this provides the opportunity for confusion to set in, but it bears to mention that Tampa real estate agents have a network that they work through anyway, and that includes most of the other agents in the area anyway. By letting one agent know what you are looking for it is sure to speed the process along.

Loyalties to a particular agency is paramount to getting the fairest treatment in any real estate transaction, but a better result when searching for that perfect home can be obtained through getting involved with that search. It bears remembering that one essential key to becoming a successful new home shopper is letting the professionals help along the way. That is what real estate agents are for, and they can find the best homes for sale.

Willie, 28, was arrested Tuesday morning and held on charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and rape. (AP) ? To hear his neighbors tell it, James Willie was just a regular guy who sometimes played with the neighborhood kids. Police describe him as a cold-blooded killer who stalked his victims on dark stretches of Mississippi’s highways and shot two of them dead.

Authorities said Friday that the 28-year-old unemployed ex-convict is responsible for two fatal shootings that prompted fears that a police impersonator was preying on motorists late at night. The shootings terrorized parts of north Mississippi and made some people afraid to go out after dark.

The first roadside killing happened May 8, when Thomas Schlender of Nebraska was found dead at about 1:30 a.m. in his car on Interstate 55 in Panola County. He had been traveling to Florida to pick up his grandson. Three days later, local casino employee Lori Anne Carswell was found dead in her car on Mississippi Highway 713 after working a late shift.

“People were terrified,” said Johnny Island, who was working Friday on the front door of his apartment at the Tunica Courts complex.

Island’s fear became shock when he found out the suspected shooter lived across the way in a complex of a single-story white apartments with red tin roofs.

“As far as I know, he didn’t bother anyone here. I have talked to him a couple of times and he was very polite, courteous. It was a shock,” Island said, peering across the street to apartment D2.

Authorities say the hunt for the highway shooter ended in that apartment when a woman climbed out a window Tuesday and went running for help, later telling authorities that Willie abducted and raped her. A 9mm gun and shell casing found during that investigation linked Willie to the highway shootings, Tunica County Sheriff K.C. Hamp said Friday.

“It’s just shocking to me. It just don’t add up,” said Carolyn Gross, who lived next door to Willie and his girlfriend. “It just didn’t seem like he would do something like that. He was out here playing with our kids.”

The arrest brought a sense of relief and not just to people who live around here.

Anita Shaffer was in town with her mother, Cheryl Ross, from Ann Arbor, Mich., to try their luck at the flashy Mississippi River casinos.

She said they arrived on Thursday and one of the first things they did was to locate the police station so they could drive there if someone tried to pull them over. They breathed easier Friday morning after learning a suspect had been arrested.

“It was scary,” Shaffer said. “I was freaking out.”

Police had warned drivers that a fake officer might be pulling over victims. But Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman Warren Strain said it appears that Willie had not been posing as an officer. Authorities are still investigating why the victims ended up pulled over the side of the highways.

Willie was being held on charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and rape and was charged with capital murder in Tunica County. He’s expected to be charged with capital murder in Panola County, too.

A capital murder charge in Mississippi carries the possibility of a death sentence or life without possibility of parole, but Kamp said it would be up to prosecutors to decide on whether to seek the death penalty.

At a news conference on Friday, Hamp said he believes robbery ? possibly connected to drugs ? was Willie’s motive, but the reason for the killings remains under investigation. Hamp said Willie has been “cooperative to a certain extent” but did not confess to the crimes.

Willie’s arrest unfolded after a woman who was involved in a domestic dispute in Tunica County asked him for a ride to the Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday morning. Instead of taking her there, authorities say he drove her to a field in these flat Delta farmlands and raped her.

Hamp said the woman tried to run but Willie fired a shot then drove her back to his girlfriend’s apartment, where the victim slipped out a window.

Deputies went to the apartment later that morning and arrested Willie without incident on the sex charge, Hamp said.

A shell casing in the field and Ruger pistol found in a car belonging to Willie’s girlfriend were linked to the highway shootings, Hamp said. He said the unidentified girlfriend has not been charged, though neighbors said she was taken for questioning Thursday and hasn’t come home since.

Willie is a convicted felon who has served time for residential burglary. Hamp also said he’s a known drug abuser.

Strain, the Public Safety spokesman, said the motive for the shootings remain under investigation. He also said authorities are trying to figure out why the victims pulled over because they had no apparent reason to stop on those dark, desolate stretches of highway.

Fears that a fake officer may have been behind the shootings prompted authorities to urge drivers to use caution when approached by any vehicle with flashing blue lights, even telling people they should call 911 if they were being pulled over.

Strain said it doesn’t appear that Willie was posing as an officer, but authorities don’t regret telling motorists to be wary of impersonators because that was one of several theories developed during the investigation and people needed to know that.

“If we’re going to err, we’re going to err on the side of public safety,” Strain said. “The fact is that we got him off the street and people can go back to a level of comfort.”

Educational Games That Foster Learning and Leadership In Children

The following is a guest post from?Roslyn Tam.?

As parents and teachers continue the endless struggle to?instil?key learning concepts in children, games have proven to be a powerful weapon in the education arsenal. This explains its growth as a discussion topic in teacher trainings and why getting an online education administration?degree compare?Kindles to iPads and, despite their academic nature, find themselves playing games at times.?

Children respond to the natural competitiveness of games, the social atmosphere they foster, and the rewards they offer for winning. Combining education with games is a simple step and the results are promising. The most effective ages vary, but educational games are shown to be especially useful from the age of six onwards, although some studies are experimenting with the possibility that using educational games for four-year-olds may also prove highly effective.?

Games to Learn?

What do education games look like? One popular category is games for reading comprehension, since reading skills are relatively easy to teach and can benefit from games which encourage awareness. Plus, with definitions, rhyming, phonological links, and sentence building, the ways that educational reading games can be put together are numerous.?

Team games are another lauded type of gaming for young children, since these encourage both interpersonal skills and learning. Parents can easily play team games with their children simply by involving them in grocery shopping, playing memory games, or sitting down for family board games. The educational aspect comes more to the front in the classroom, where teachers create project games or use games designed and created specifically for the classroom environment.?

It’s a Digital World?

One of the fastest growing fields in educational games is the digital field. Digital games can be easily mass produced, sent to a broad swath of schools, and accessed by students at home to make the education experience accessible at any level. Age is no longer a barrier to entry for computer games, so even young children can benefit from this field. Plus, the combination of sight, sound and text means that children can quickly find which method works best for them to learn, and even choose from a variety of rewards which they earn for successfully completing a game.

Even if teachers do not bring it up, students are sure to: What about video games? If online content and multimedia games can help increase student engagement and improve grades, what about traditional console or computer video games made for entertainment? This is tricky territory. On the one hand, games designed for entertainment have been shown to encourage some skills, especially hand-eye coordination. ?However, educational games have the ability to target specific types of learning, such as history or math, so students can reach particular goals in their classes.

As medical and military fields start to use video games to improve specific skill sets, the trend of hybrid games which both entertain and enlighten is growing. Even traditional games teach basic reading and mathematics. A number of initiatives, including the National STEM Video Game Challenge, are trying to increase the number of games that add educational goals to these basic forms of entertainment.?

Of course, from the Professor Layton series to Carmen San Diego, a number of educational video games already exists to foster an appreciation of trivia and facts among grade school students. The challenge is creating new games that students not only enjoy playing, but also offer students the chance to learn basic educational skills, while having fun.*

IDF Soldiers Forced To Visit Church – Yeshiva World News

Soldiers and officers of an elite combat unit were compelled to visit a church and attend a lecture by a religious leader, the daily Yisrael HaYom reported on Thursday.

A group of ten soldiers and officers visited Yerushalayim as part of an educational culture day by the IDF. Such days are commonplace as the military?s Education Corps seeks to expand the horizons of our Jewish soldiers. Ironically, this particular event was in honor of Yom Yerushalayim, but it appears no one in the Jewish army felt visiting a shul or Jewish site might be a tad more suitable.

Realizing they were being escorted to a church some of the soldiers politely asked to be excused, explain halacha does not permit them to enter such a structure. They were refused and ordered to remain and participate.

The soldiers told Yisrael HaYom that they are nothing less than astounded by the total lack of sensitivity to their religious beliefs by the IDF. One of the soldiers added that even if they were dismissed as asked, it does not change the fact that something is very wrong, that the IDF feels a need to take soldiers to a church.

He added that not just from a Jewish point of view, but from a social point of view since such a day simply divides the troops instead of providing a day of fun, education and bonding between the troops.

The Office of the IDF Spokesman explained that the military sponsors and array of educational days to address the diverse population of soldiers. ?A soldier not wishing to enter a church on religious grounds is not compelled to do so?.

Obama backs Europe growth push

President Barack Obama threw his weight behind France‘s demand for pro-growth policies in Europe Friday, as world leaders gathered at Camp David for a G8 summit darkened by Greece’s possible eurozone exit.

Forging an alliance that could help upend two years of austerity-focused policies championed by Germany, Obama and French President Francois Hollande at a White House meeting rallied around the need to kick-start growth.

Fearing Europe’s roiling crisis could dent the US economy and with it his chances of re-election, Obama risked a confrontation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, a G8 ally who has demanded austerity come first.

Obama stressed that events in Europe held “extraordinary” importance for the United States, which unlike the eurozone is growing, albeit slowly.

He said that the G8 summit, which he will convene at his Camp David retreat later Friday, would discuss “a responsible approach to fiscal consolidation that is coupled with a strong growth agenda.”

Meanwhile, Hollande said growth must be the priority, maintaining his stance that austerity measures alone would be insufficient to reverse the crisis in Europe.

In an attempt to smooth over the split within the G8, other European leaders stressed that austerity and stimulus are not mutually exclusive.

“We need to take action for growth while staying the course in terms of putting our public finances in order. Stability and growth go together, they are two sides of the same coin,” European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said ahead of the summit.

But with Greece’s fiscal crisis apparently approaching denouement, those good words may be sorely tested.

The recent clobbering of Greek parties that back austerity measures under the country’s 173-billion-euro ($220 billion) bailout has sparked a fresh round of market panic and left the two-year-old effort to prevent a Greek default on life support.

Fresh Greek polls are scheduled for June 17, but there is no certainty that supporters of the painful reforms will win, and already nervous Greeks have been pulling money from bank accounts.

If anti-austerity parties win, the markets are already betting that the rest of Europe turns off the bailout spigot, a decision that would force a Greek default and would likely spell an exit from the eurozone.

So far, European leaders are insisting that Greece must meet its commitments, a stance that will likely be held until the elections. But a row is brewing over whether Greece’s bailout package needs to be revisited.

Two years of austerity have resulted in crippling unemployment and while Greeks say they are overwhelmingly in favor of staying in the eurozone, there is little appetite for more budget cuts.

Diplomats say new initiatives are unlikely to come from the summit, but Obama’s intervention tips Europe’s political calculus toward pro-growth policies before European officials gather in the coming weeks to thrash out concrete measures.

Commission president Barroso said there was growing consensus around the idea of investments funded by common European bonds — a measure he said would satisfy the need for austerity and stimulus.

“We need to compliment the fiscal consolidation efforts for reforms with investment,” he told AFP on the margins of the summit.

G8 leaders will hold their main discussions on Europe’s fiscal plight Saturday at Camp David’s rustic collection of cabins on the wooded Catoctin Mountain in Maryland, outside Washington.

On Friday night, discussions around the dinner table at Obama’s Laurel Lodge will focus on Iran’s nuclear challenge ahead of talks between global powers and the Islamic Republic in Baghdad later this month.

The leaders are also expected to address Syria’s crackdown on its anti-government uprising, fears that North Korea will launch a new nuclear test and Myanmar, after Obama eased US investment restrictions Thursday on the country formerly known as Burma.

Diplomats said there would also be an agreement on how to help newly free Arab nations recover state assets moved abroad by members of previous regimes.

The G8 club of developed nations includes the United States, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Russia.

Summer Organization ? Homesteading In The Burbs

As summer vacation approaches I find myself furiously planning out the days ahead.? Ninety(ish) days of total freedom.? No work.? No school.? Okay, maybe that?s a little overstated.? I tutor and work a very part-time job over the summer and I do a relaxed homeschool schedule with the boy-child.? But after that, baby, it?s all fun and sun.

Some people plan big vacations in the summer.? Personally, I find vacations to be stressful.? The packing, the traveling, the stress of navigating a new location, the spending exorbitant amounts of money.? In my opinion, there is a very short period of time in which said vacation is enjoyable and more often than not, it?s just not worth the hassle.? Thankfully, my husband feels the same way and my son, while he loves dreaming of going away and doing things, is really a dyed in the wool homebody at heart.? As a family, we decided a few years ago to compromise and do a larger family vacation biennially.? In the off years, however, we opt for a quiet ?stay-cation? at home.

While the idea of having nothing to do and endless hours to lounge and laze around does sound appealing, it would get old after awhile.? Really.? Really.? Old.? In all honesty, I would go out of my mind.? I need some structure.? So, what in the world do you do with three months worth of freedom when you want to keep your budget reasonable but still have a memorable summer?

Early on I will typically spend some time researching special events that will occur throughout the summer and write them on the calendar.? Then, as a family we will sit down together and make a list of local attractions that we would like to visit.? This year we?ve also compiled a ?100 Things of Summer? list, which includes some personal goals for each of us, home projects, day trips and fun free things to do at home.? Finally, we purchase season passes for places that we will frequent many times.? Every year our season passes include a State Park pass, Philadelphia Zoo and Plumpton Park Zoo a small, locally owned zoo where we sometimes volunteer.? While it may seem redundant, we get our money?s worth and then some from both of these zoos.? I love the Philadelphia Zoo pass because of its fantastic Reciprocal Zoo and Aquarium program.? In recent years we have also added a fourth pass to the mix though it has changed each year.? A local museum was usually the choice, however, this year we have decided to go with a private pool that is less than 5 min. from our home.? To say that they boy-child is excited would be an understatement.? I can?t even begin to count the number of times that he has asked, ?how many days until the pool opens??

At the beginning of the summer I lay out a basic template for each week:

Monday ? library
Tuesday ? park/$1 movie day
Wednesday ? zoo
Thursday ? stay-at-home, board games, movies etc.
Friday ? misc. outings

Sometimes the weather dictates that we swap days here and there but this gives me a general idea of what I want to accomplish in a given week.? My husband has off every other Friday throughout the year and in the Summer, he will typically take off those other Fridays using his vacation days.? This gives us one day as a family to head off to places I might not necessarily drive on my own.? Making Thursday our ?stay-at-home? day is perfect then since we are able to get the house clean before my husband?s day off.? The other days are pretty self-explanatory.? We go to the library each week for new books, CD?s and movies.? We hit a state or town park each week and sometimes participate in the $1 Regal Summer Movie Express.? I am excited since this year the theater will be playing plenty of movies that?we haven?t seen in the Summer Movie Express.? On zoo day we visit our small locally owned zoo and oftentimes volunteer.? On weeks that we don?t volunteer we make sure to take bags of produce and herbs for the animals.? Last summer the boy child and I were able to feed Jimmie the Giraffe some of said herbs.

Something else that we do in the summer is a modified summer homeschooling but that is fodder for another post.

Until next time!
